Boards and Committees
The Town Council appoints residents to serve on boards and committees that address varied aspects of Summerfield's quality of life. Citizens who serve on these boards and committees perform a community service using their skills, interests, and initiatives to make a difference. Boards and committees receive updates and provide feedback on projects and programs; they may also make policy recommendations to the Council.
The five volunteer citizen committees are:
Finance Committee which advises and supports the Town Council's efforts to preserve fiscal resources
Founders' Day Committee which works with town staff to plan, organize, and execute the annual Founders' Day event.
History Committee which promotes the town's heritage including the preservation and restoration of historic properties.
Trails and Open Space Committee which advises on greenways, trails, open spaces, and improving neighborhood connectivity.
The two volunteer citizen boards are:
Planning Board which reviews zoning issues, major subdivision and site plans, and watershed modifications. It acts in an advisory capacity and sends recommendations to the Town Council for approval.
Board of Adjustment which is a quasi-judicial board that reviews and judges variances, Special Use Permits, and appeals.
The boards and committees operate subject to Ordinance ORD-2015-002 which is found below. Find more details about the individual boards and committees here.
