Founders' Day 2024 Info

Join us for the Annual Founders' Day Event on May 17 and 18, 2024! Rides, inflatables, local live music, food, craft and business vendors, a Saturday morning parade and much more. The festival will run from 6:00pm until 10:00pm on May 17 and from 10:00am until 4:00pm on May 18 at 7300-7400 Summerfield Road beside Fire Station #9.

Summerfield's Founders' Day Event is a celebration of fun. Join the town to celebrate the original founders of the community of Bruce's Crossroads, which became the community of Summerfield in the early 1800s, as well as a second set of Summerfield founders, the more recent residents who worked diligently to incorporate the community and protect its identity in 1996.

Carnival Rides:  A crowd favorite for sure. Come and get the best deal by purchasing a one-day wrist band and get unlimited rides. Feel like you are flying in the swings, soar high in the Ferris wheel, and zoom down the slide.

Inflatables: We have a variety of inflatables for kids (and adults) of all ages to bounce on, maneuver through, and slide down. Challenge your friend on an obstacle course race or tire the children out on the slide. These inflatables are free of charge.

Parade: Whether you are in the parade or watching it; the parade is the best way to begin the Saturday morning festivities. The Founders’ Day parade brings in that small town feeling as the floats, walkers, and more make their way down Summerfield Road. Come prepared to catch some goodies! Sign up for the parade here.

Main Stage Entertainment: We love bringing in the local schools and businesses to help us celebrate the reason why our community is here and who we are. This year, Greensboro Performing Arts will will open up Founders’ Day with their performances on Friday night. Greensboro Performing Arts, Summerfield Charter Academy, Revolution Academy, Northern Guilford Jazz, Band, and Repertory 336. will perform Saturday morning (after the parade).

Caricature Drawing: Again this year, Kyle Edgell will be sure to put on a show as she captures the personalities and expressions of guests who have come to enjoy Founders’ Day. This free entertainment will be available on Saturday only.

Face Painting: Every kid loves to imagine they are someone else or have a special something drawn on their face or hand. Face painter Heather can’t wait to show off her skills! This free entertainment will be available on Saturday only.

Balloon Twisting: Let Magic Christopher’s balloon twisting skills amaze you as he makes a variety of balloon creations. Not only does he make great creations, he captures the crowd’s attention as well. This free entertainment will be available on Saturday only.

Historical Committee Tent: Take stroll under the Historical tent and see what makes Summerfield special. There is so much to treasure and capture from the displays, books, photos, and stories being told under this tent. It’s not to be missed.

Trails & Open Space Committee Tent: Come and learn what all the Trails & Open Space Committee is doing for our town. Are you curious about the projected A&Y Greenway route or the Mountains-to-Sea Trail? Want to know more about our town’s future trail planning, stop by, ask, and learn.

Food Vendors: What is an outdoor festival without food trucks and vendors? There will be Domino's, Grammy's Smoken Grill, Jamaican Cuisine, Taco Bros, West Coast Wanderer, G&T Concessions, Kona Ice, Mackie's Munchies of the Carolina, and Blue V'nilla.

Craft and Business Vendors: Be sure to bring some money as we have some great craft and business vendors. Many of our businesses from the Merchants Association are on hand to welcome guests with a mixture beautiful craft vendors.

Cornhole & Ladderball: The open field screams outdoor lawn games. The live music, food, rides, and more make the atmosphere even better. Form a quick team and duel against each other to see who is the champion for the day.
