Comprehensive Land Use Plan
What is a Comprehensive Land Use Plan?
A long-range document that serves as a strategic roadmap for the Town’s development. It establishes a vision for the Town and provides policy guidance for growth and development. It does not, in itself, change the zoning or land use of property.
Why is the Comprehensive Land Use Plan important?
The Plan is the primary tool that Town staff, Planning Board, and Town Council use as they make decisions about resources and land use. NC General Statute 160D-501 sets out the plan requirements.
How will the Plan be created?
The Plan will be developed through a collaborative process involving Town staff, residents, and other community stakeholders. Public input will play a key role in ensuring the Plan reflects the community’s shared vision and priorities.
How can Summerfield residents and business owners get involved?
Residents and business owners are encouraged to participate by completing an online survey and attending two open-house sessions, tentatively scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. Community feedback will be an important resource in shaping the Plan.
How can I take the public input survey?
The public input survey for Town residents and business owners is available here and will remain open until February 27.
