Special Called Town Council Meeting
When:A special called Council meeting will be held at the Summerfield Community Center 5/28 at 6:30pm for the annual budget presentation. It will be open to limited media and closed to the public due to COVID-19, although the public will be allowed to attend briefly for public comment purposes. The meeting will be streamed live on the town’s Facebook page and the audio recorded for public access.
The town will accept budget-related public comments (limited to 3 minutes) one of two ways:
- The public can send an email to clerk@summerfieldnc.gov no later than noon, 5/28. The subject line must read “Budget public comments for 5/28 meeting.” The submitter is asked to include his or her name and address for documentation within the meeting minutes. Comments should be readable within 3 minutes and will be read aloud during the appropriate meeting time; or,
- Speakers will wait outside and one person at a time will be allowed to enter the meeting room to make comments.
The town desires to both receive budget input and implement recommended social distancing measures. Apart from formal public comment opportunities, staff is available at other times to answer budget-related questions. The public hearing is scheduled for 6/9 at 6:30pm.
